Shifu — AI Study Assistant is designed to help users understand and generate notes from online content. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

1. Information We Process

The Extension may process the following data:

• User-selected text from webpages
• Content from YouTube transcripts (when triggered by the user)
• Captured screenshots (when triggered by the user)
• Generated notes
• User-provided API keys
• User preferences and settings

2. How Information Is Used

The processed content is used solely to:

• Generate AI-powered explanations
• Create structured notes
• Summarize YouTube videos
• Provide contextual understanding of images and webpages

3. Data Storage

• API keys and user preferences are stored locally in the user’s browser using Chrome storage.
• The Extension does not maintain its own servers.
• We do not sell, share, or monetize user data.

4. Third-Party Services

When users configure an AI provider (such as OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic, or Groq), selected content may be sent directly to that provider’s API to generate responses. Data handling is subject to the respective provider’s privacy policy.

5. Data Collection

The Extension does not collect personal data for analytics, advertising, or tracking purposes. All actions are user-initiated.

6. Data Control

• Remove stored API keys at any time
• Clear generated notes
• Uninstall the Extension to remove all locally stored data
